Audio plays when a multiview layer is deselected

A couple of the main issues I've had have been with multiview.
I'm setting up to be able to change media in virtual sets on-the-fly (going to layer 3) and if a set isn't designed for media playback, I've unchecked layer three. If media happens to have been assigned there, it'll still play back the audio regardless, but not the video.
The way that multiview playback settings override input playback settings (and vice versa) is also not very clear.
Can auto-playback be kept, but audio not play when the multiview layer is de-selected?

And what if to use shortcut to set Alpha of media input value to 0 instead of de-selecting?

The de-selection already works as expected for video, audio is the problem. Intuitively, I'd expect a check box that turns off a layer to turn everything off, and not fiddle with triggers because audio is still running. The major problem with the trigger approach, from the commands I can see, is that every multiview input / virtual set would need an off trigger for every media file input. Then, every media file would need a trigger to turn on the audio. And the on trigger doesn't work if the media file is supposed to play audio as part of a different multiview set. It defeats the purpose of auto-mixing. Maybe two tick boxes are best in multiview? One for audio, and one for video.
