What are some options available for displaying the live program output from vMix on a mobile device (i.e., iOS, Android, or Windows Home S tablet)? It would be ideal to see not only the live program output but also have an audio meter visible to visually indicate the presence of audio in the output stream.

The context is a vMix SDI-camera environment at a church where the pastor is a one person show. The tablet device would provide a low profile means to validate a good stream out of vMix.

Thanks in advance.

@ Rob009

The simplest solution for this is vMix Call (if you have vMixHD or above).
Alternatively, using SRT with the Larix Player app

Interesting. So with vMix call you Host a call on the vMix platform and the mobile device connects as a Guest Caller (with the return feed video source defined to be the vMix Output program stream). Did I get this right?

As I have never used the vMix Call feature, can you permanently define a Host Call, so the same connection URL for the guest mobile device can be reused day after day?

Thanks!

Yes, that is correct.
If you save your vMix Call Input in a vMix Preset, it can be used indefinitely as long as you have that preset.

vMix call uses the internet though, keep that in mind. To do it locally, enable NDI on the program output in vMix. Connect iOS device via wifi to the same network as the vMix machine. Use NDI monitor app on mobile device and voila. Only catch is right now I don't think you can do this on Android.

Thanks for pointing that out.

I assume you can accomplish the same thing as the NDI approach by defining an SRT listener Output in vMix and then connecting with an SRT client on a mobile device, correct? Are there any benefits of an NDI approach over an SRT point-to-point video stream?

I think so but to be honest I'm much more up to speed on NDI than SRT. My understanding was SRT is for long distance transmission over the internet and with a predefined latency. NDI is more suited to low latency local monitoring.

In terms of which one is best for your case, it probably depends on your network configuration. Try both! Couldn't hurt to learn about both options.

Didn't know about the NDI monitor for iOS, could be useful, but I'm dissapointed to see it doesn't offer image flip - would be great to use for Teleprompt, but unlike the Windows Newtek NDI Studio Monitor (which is a great app) it doesn't.
