Hello All -

We produce long shows with callers coming in and out throughout the day, many of these callers have minimal technical abilities.

To make things smoother for us, we would like to see a producer station where a producer could speak with the VMIX caller and verify the audio and video before being placed on-air. Currently our producers have to ask the show director to select a caller for us in preview so we can double check them before their time. this interrupts the flow of the show director.

When we use SKYPETX boxes like TalkShow our producer can interact with the callers without disturbing the show director and make sure everything is working properly before going on air.

I could also envision this station creating on the fly titles and other elements that come in during the show and adding them as inputs to the show computer for the show director.

Thought?

Sid

+1. In addition to vMix Call, I also use Live To Air and that program has this kind of feature. The producer can log in from anywhere worldwide to work with the remote guest and ensure they're camera and mic are working well before sending them to the studio. It works well and has been great for me when bringing remote guests into a live show when I can't bring them in before the show starts.

We are using three different 3rd party tools for bringing in callers right now and all have this option, but would love to just do it with vMix Call.

Why not set up a producer station on a separate PC running vMix, and connect it with the live vMix PC via vMix Call or NDI?
It will take some thinking, in particular when it comes to audio management, but very doable.

Here's what I would do.

Setup a 2nd machine on the same network with the free NDI Tools (ndi.tv/tools)

Send the multiviewer to the producer machine via NDI, use NDI Studio Monitor to preview.
Send the vMixcall Manager Window to the 2nd Machine via vMix Desktop Capture (NDI), and also view with Studio Monitor

Download "vMix Panel Builder" from these forums and create a control panel for your producer.
Put whatever audio controls in there that you want.

If you're really ambitious, go get "Zen NDI Router" and assign all your vmixCalls to router output. Now your producer can hear each caller as needed.

To get the producer's mic/camera into the system, just use another vMixCall, if you can spare.

It can all be done with free/existing tools.
