How best can I connect a phone call from a cell phone device in to vMix and be able to send a mix minus audio feed to the caller? Is there an audio interface third party device that can help with this?

An audio interface like the Behringer UMC404HD can do this. It requires to set a bus for mix-minus, let's say bus A set this bus to UMC404HD Asio OUT 3 Now it requires a Y jack for the phone: - mic input comes from UMC404HD OUT 3 - headphones out goes to one of the UMC404HD inputs, let's say input 1 Now in vMix add an audio input with UMC Asio input 1 Done! PS : here's what I call a Y adaptor

Thanks for the speedy reply. Not clear on the Y jack for the phone. I understand that one end of the Y would go in to the Behringer as an input, but where does the other end go? Also can you clarify what you mean by 'mic input comes from UMC404HD OUT 3'? How does the signal get from my vMix machine back to the Behringer? Sorry, but I'm not an expert at the audio side of things!

Quote:How does the signal get from my vMix machine back to the Behringer? via USB Asio driver (it's full duplex, works both ways) Quote:can you clarify what you mean by 'mic input comes from UMC404HD OUT 3'? The output #3 of the UMC becomes the input source for the phone. It's the mix-minus from vMix. That's the source audio for the remote caller to hear.

There are several ways to do this. 1) The simplest would be to get the guest to use vMix Call, since it automatically sends a mixminus feed back down the line. 2) Use Skype or any number or other free/paid audio services such as ipDTL, and then create a new bus on vMix to send back a mixminus. 3) The oldest way would be to use a Phone Hybrid device, which will take input from a wired phone line and output it by XLR cable etc. Second-hand units can be found cheaply now, it’s v old tech!

Thanks, Agent Pete. In the first option, I assume the only way for them to get in to vMix call would be through their phone's browser, using the vMix call link, right? In other words, there is no way for them to physically use their cell phone to call in to a vMix call input, right?

Yes, that's correct. They'll have to send a video signal, which of course you don't need to use. So preferably get them to use a (good) wifi rather than consume vast amounts of their data plan.

You could setup an account with a VoIP service. That would give you a phone number that your guest could call. Then use a SIP soft phone to receive the call on your vMix system. It's like using Skype, but leveraging the traditional telephone network. PS - After 20 years in broadcasting I now work for a small and very niche conferencing company. This is the sort of thing we do all the time.
