In the Audio Mixer, only input names are shown.
Whereas in the "video mixer", both input number AND input name are shown.
Please show input number in the audio mixer as well. Not big deal that numbers there will show gaps if there are inputs without audio tracks.

Inputs such as "december 2020 file 1080p50 number 01" AND "december 2020 file 1080p50 number 02" are BOTH truncated to "december 2020 file 1080p50",
so you really need the input number to identify files.

It would be wise, to show a hover effect, such that when the cursor is over an input name that got truncated (both in the "video mixer" AND in the audio mixer), the full name is shown on mouse-over.

Thanks for supporting this.

Cheers,
Arie

Why don't you simply rename your inputs? vMix allows to label your inputs without altering the file names.

something like "01-dec2020" or "02-dec2020-1080p50" would show entirely.

Hi Guillaume,
Thank you.
That is what I'm doing now, it's the obvious workaround.

I find vMix more and more lacking in usability and GUI support.
Things like hovers when names are truncated,
and consistency (input numbers shown in one panel: then show them in the other (audio) panel as well)
are pretty basic practices, which I believe vMix could make better use of.

Besides, automation has not been invented to force users to create workarounds.
Great, if a workaround can alleviate the issue for the time being, but this asks me to waste time on things that could easily be automated.

I would advice vMix to have a GUI and usability expert do a complete analysis of improvement points.
As much as I still love and use the product, it is in need of a more professional GUI. Understandably, functionalities have grown incrementally, and so has the GUI.
A fresh look at what a good GUI would be, is advisable.

Also, I can think of dozens of really easy settings improvements that would take away many irritants.
Just one example, why can't I toggle somewhere, if I want / don't want the warning when I close an input !?
Oh and saving your template ... why is there only a Save as ?
Etc. etc.

Hi,

The initial suggestion in this feature request is great and what we need to hear, however general statements such as " it is in need of a more professional GUI" are not
as they do not provide any specifics.

One important thing to keep in mind, is usually on these discussions we see online, they compare to the UI of a program that has a fraction of the features not realising
that the UI design choice in that app is very limited in what features can be added to it.

So in summary, specific improvements are great, general "UI needs to be completely redesigned" are unhelpful!

Kind Regards,

Martin
vMix
