How to customize a layer for a Zoom gallery view capture?

We need to output a multiview with customized background and a Zoom captured window with a variable number (2, 3 or 4) of panelists. Using VMix Multiview input, we put the background in multiview 1 and use the following 4 lines to input the zoom captured window, cropping each one to fit just the portion of every single panelist. This work OK when we have all 4 panelists displayed at the same time, but when one of them leave the panel and stop his video, the layout of the Zoom window changes by putting 2 panelists on the upper row and the third in the middle of the lower row, therefore vMix displays the third panelist split into the 2 boxes on the bottom with black on both sides. I'm sure there is a better way to do what we need. Any help? Thank you, Sergio

The only real way what most of us end up doing. One computer per speaker, each spotlighted and captured individually via NDI. The other way is MS Teams :-)

vMixCall is a much better option for such scenarios Or OBS.ninja Or LiveToAir by GnuralNet http://www.gnuralnet.com/livetoairAs said, Teams and also Skype also offer to get each speaker as an individual NDI feed.

Thank you Vince and DWAN for your replies and advice. @Vince: unfortunately the total number of panelists is 23, even if they go live split in groups of 2/4 and we cannot afford to have 23 computers... @DWAN: vMix call is not an option for the same reason (and also because if panelist decides to share their PPT Vmix doesn't work properly, even if the beta version offer this possibility). I'm making tests with OBS.Ninja and will investigate the other options suggested. Sergio

It's DWAM, with an M btw...
The solution for slides is to have them locally and to provide remote control for them to the remote guests. It's been discussed many times on the forum. That's what I always do.
Regarding the number of panelists (23), it only takes 3 vMix instances in parallel to get them all. I've done this many times, no problem.
It's up to you, but with Zoom it's impossible to produce high quality shows...

Sorry DWAM, with the M, and thank you for your commitment to help me!
I'm pretty new with Vmix and video production in general and I am trying to experiment and learn.
Having the PPT locally while granting remote control to the speaker is a great option....providing you can get the PPT before the meeting starts...
I don't understand exactly what you mean for "3 vmix instances in parallel". Do you mean 3 vMix calls in parallel? In this case, how can you manage that jumping from one speaker to another?

if you need 23 panels at the same time for the same show you can use 3 vMix computers : 8 vMixCalls x 3 computers = 24 panelists
in parallel means you can "link" all 3 vMix with NDI feeds... Might be complicated for you if you are just starting but it's possible.
Otherwise as long as you don't need more than 8 remote guests at the same time, a single vMix instance is enough.

Ahhhh! Got it! unfortunately, we don't have 3 accounts, just one (4k with max 4 calls) as we are starting now. But I take your advice in consideration for future developments! Thanks again.

Don't feel bad, just saw a posting somewhere about a zoom event: 20-30 operators, 50 physical machines + 150 cloud machines in a brand new 20 Million dollar studio build in 3 months ;-) You will get there :-)

Personnaly, I would just go with MS Teams. It's not perfect, but it beats Zoom with each call getting its own NDI, as well as in terms of quality (Most of the time).
VMix call is nice with a few callers/single session, but with multiple sessions, you risk one session going overtime and someone calling on top of somone else or a next caller doing a test and it quickly becomes a nightmare to manage.
I've run over 50 shows with VMix call and even with rehersals and letting people know when to call, it never fails that somone decides to call in at the wrong time.
In the end if depends on budget and numbers on the crew, give the client options and associated costs, we did a few test demos so that they can compare quality as well. In most cases, MS Teams wins.

There is another option with medialooks VT. It has build in mix minus, outputs as NDI, can make use of SRT, can be remote controlled... Maybe worth trying.

Quote:How is the audio quality in Live To Air? Hi Michael! I have not tested Live to Air so far and probably won't. I just mentioned it as an available solution on the market. It's based on WebRTC, I guess it should compare to vMixCall audio quality (assuming their developpers are as good as Martin)
