I am assisting a local morning show that is using vMix Go 4. I would like to mix all external microphones on a Mackie 1402 VLZ as well as create their IFB mix on it. Thinking of sending all internal clips/packages from the vMix to A&B as well as the master outputs. Setting the 2 output XLRs to send A/B to the mixer and the L/R outputs of the mixer to the vMix input XLRs. I would create an Aux mix withe the A/B inputs and their microphones for them to hear on their earpieces. They also do live video call-ins. Does anybody have experience with this setup? I am a newbie at vMix but 40 years experience in major broadcast productions and facilities. Thanks for any and all insight.

Hello,
The problem with vMix is that there is an audio delay on inputs. If you output audio from vMix and feed it back to vMix, you will get an additional delay on the input. This is done to sync external audio to the video inputs, but it can not be switched off.
if you would like to control the audio from the vMix Callers, you will not be able to mix the audio back in sync because of this. the audio from the call to the desk will be in sync, but because of the delay on the input, it will be to late.
we are also doing this with our live shows, but we use an extra pc with audio and video input to stream. vMix is only used to output video and audio directly and not to stream because of this problem with the delay. but this makes it possible to mix the audio and video input in sync again.
goor luck on your shows.
kind regands, Rob.

Thanks, I have become aware of the delay so that is why I am not returning the vMix output back from the mixer, only the mics. I also want to set them up with a baseline show template that includes all audio processing and monitoring. Is that possible?

I believe almost everything is possible using additional audio buses in vMIX. If you make a scheme of your setup I may try to suggest something.

I spoke with the guys at Acme who build the units for vMix and got a heads up on how the hardware is configured. It uses the settings from Windows. Once I got that I was able to route audio accordingly. I will post, if allowed, a PDF of the setup I am working out for them. Maybe it will help others...

Hello,
Unfortunately it is. If you look in the audio settings from an audio input, you will see the original input peak meter and the output peak meter. There is a delay in both meters. This is the delay given by vMix.
This delay can’t be switched off, and in my opinion, this is a real BUG in the software, but the programmers of vMix don’t think so.😅
