I may be wrong, but isn't the Preroll the way it is right now kind of useless? As it seems to just add seconds before and after the in and out points, which makes it work like shortcuts for e.g. 12 seconds replay instead of a 10 seconds replay?

Wouldn't make it more sense to just have the first camera angle and not all camera angles have a little bit of preroll, because the preroll is used to have a little bit more time before the director cuts from live video to the replay (in a situation where replay and camera switching are controlled independently)

And by having this preroll on all camera angles, it makes the replays way to long...so it's basically useless, because if I would want a longer event...I would just set a new in or out point

can be useful to tweak ones "hit" moment (has come in handy)

Many options are useless to some and not for others ;-)

Okay, sorry you're right, but wouldn't it still make more sense the way I explained it, since there is already a way to achieve the same thing with shortcuts, that is the pre and postroll right now?

Please explain how to use shortcuts for the following .
Want to capture a replay clip when an object passes a light gate which triggers the replay capture but i want 3 seconds of footage included from before the trigger moment, or use the 5 second button but like to have 7 seconds adding one second before and after from when i hit the onscreen button ?

Okay got it!

Probably not working with simple shortcuts, only with triggers (don't know how your trigger system works) and/or with a script.

Yeah it doesn't behave the way I expected. I expected it be a padding on to the start and end of the event (or events) when played out to allow for a stinger to clear/come in without covering any of the marked event.
I think that would be a useful option.
