UPDATE: Issue is now resolved as of 461.19. See below for driver update:
https://www.nvidia.com/e.../drivers/results/168778/

Hi All,

In recent testing we have come across a significant performance issue in vMix with GeForce driver versions greater than 452.06.
The symptoms are much higher GPU usage % (as shown in Windows Task Manager) when using multiple video sources such as cameras, NDI and video clips.

Installing 452.06 or lower version drivers instead will not have this issue.
See below to download the most recent driver without any issues:
https://www.nvidia.com/e.../drivers/results/162983/

Until we can investigate further, we would advise anyone on newer driver versions to roll back where possible.

Regards,

Martin
vMix

P.S For those curious, the issue relates to a performance problem converting between YUV video formats. 8x HD cameras can be converted in under 10% GPU usage
on a 2060, while with the latest drivers this jumps up to 65% or more!

If you are looking for older driver versions, here's the page to use :

@Martin
Do you know whether Quadros are impacted too ?

Hi,

I have driver version 457.30 and at the moment I did not feel a high consumption of the GPU. My card model is the GTX 1660Ti 6GB.
I will take care of this fact, as it is always important, especially a high consumption as mentioned.

I have problem with my Nvidia RTX 3080 with Vimix, the GPU utilise 100% when playing 3 x 4K video. Is it the driver issue to?
Because I can't find 452.06 version driver for RTX 3080. only 457.30 version available.
I tried with RTX 3090 too, facing same issue too.

Im Using
intel I10850K
Gigabyte Z490 Aorus Extreme
Corsair Vengeance RGB Pro 3200 x 4
XPG 60G SSD
Zotac RTX 3080 GPU

Is there an easy way to check if Quadro Cards are affected?

I have version 456.38 using a GeForce GTX 1660Ti (6GB) and the GPU stays around 4%, the CPU (i7-10700k) however always gives me errors after an hour when using Skype (one user).

The only thing I get confused about is which driver to use, Studio or the Gamer lol.

Quoth NVidia:
Quote:
If you are a gamer who prioritizes day of launch support for the latest games, patches, and DLCs, choose Game Ready Drivers. If you are a content creator who prioritizes reliability for creative workflows including video editing, animation, photography, graphic design, and livestreaming, choose Studio Drivers. Do a little bit of both? No worries, either can support running the best games and creative apps.

I'd say Studio, but I don't think the machine will explode either way ;).

I JUST got a 3080, and am in the position of having no fall-back driver of lesser version, and the NVidia site is not helpful.

I hope this issue is short-lived.

Best,

Chad

hi all. first post in the forum!

I noted there is a new Nvidia Studio Driver 457.30 released on 12 Nov. does this fix the performance issue, or is rolling back to 452.06 a better bet?

When I tried to install the 452.06, the installer would not proceed. Said 'system not compatible with this version of Windows'.

Edition Windows 10 Pro
Version 20H2
Installed on ‎2020-‎10-‎05
OS build 19042.662
Experience Windows Feature Experience Pack 120.2212.551.0

RTX 2070 Super GPU
But, the issue does seem to be affecting the system as there is red warning of "GPU overloaded" when vMix is doing nothing. Just after startup to default workspace.

I just downloaded 460.79 and it may very well have fixed the resource problem.
I am no longer getting GPU warnings where I was getting them with recent builds.
I'll do a little more testing on the RTX 2070 notebook, but the first impressions are encouraging.

Unfortunately the issue still exists in 460.79.

To accurately test for it, run at least 4 "Sample Input" Camera inputs in vMix.
Then check the GPU usage in Task Manager or GPU-Z.

Then roll back the driver and compare.

The GPU usage will be at least double vs the 452.06 driver.
Here is a direct link to the driver if needed:

Hi,

You will need to post again, as we had to delete that thread due to being posted in the wrong place.
Please only post on topic, a discussion about GPU performance in general is not appropriate in a 3000 series thread ;)

Sorry!

I also did a test once. I have done many things in vMix through Blackmagic ATEM Television Studio.
The ATEM has a smaller delay than with the PC when sending to a live monitor.
Since I still have an older graphics card on my PC, I didn't want to overload it.
My graphics card is currently still one: nvidia GTX 950 driver version 451.48

I've followed the discussions in the forum. Now I wanted to know where the limits are on my map.

6 Kameras Canon Legria HF G25 mit 1080i50
2x SRT
1x USB Cam

2x to HDMI - SDI Converter to Blackmagic DeckLink Duo SDI
2x HDMI to Blackmagic Design DeckLink Mini HDMI/SDI
1x HDMI to Blackmagic Intensity Pro HDMI
1x HDMI to Blackmagic Intensity Shuttle
1x USB Cam Microsoft
2x SRT mit 2 Smartphone
Total 9 entrances

In Task-Manager
GPU 15 - 20%
CPU 21 - 30%

In vMix
Render Times 5 - 10ms
GPU Mem 46%
CPU vMix ca. 19%

Is there something wrong with my card?

So which Quadro driver versions are we recommending?

And which ones have proved problematic?

One problem with rolling back the drivers to this older 452 version is that it is not compatible with Nvidia Broadcast, which I use for background noise cancelling.

For me the issue with the newer drivers is intermittent. So most of the time the drivers and vMix work as expected. However, I would say once every couple of weeks I will turn the computer on, load vMix and see the render times are huge. All I have to do is close vMix and reinstall the latest driver from scratch. It doesn't take too long, but I have to remember to check. I have started streaming a few times and then realised that the render times are crazy and I have to restart the stream.

So I either put up with that, or I put up with extra background noise in my streams.
