It’s just too easy to break things when removing or moving inputs. Sometimes the knock on effects are huge.

This is by far the worst thing about how vMix works.

Absolutely love vMix BTW.

Not sure whether “thanking” the original poster counts as a +1, but would very much like to see this.

I like that when creating shortcuts you have the check box that allows the shortcut to follow either the input number (useful for a numeric controller key) or a particular named input as it moves around (useful for macro-type actions).

It would be great if this functionality could be extended to choosing Output assignments, etc. That is, you can choose to always follow this input number, or follow this particular input name.

This is a very important area that needs looking at. As it is now, input numbering is almost broken.
It would also be nice to be able to assign number ranges to different kinds of inputs, or just to categories.

Cameras could be 1-20
Layouts 21-40
Tickers 41-80
Playbacks 101-140

Just as examples.
It would make it infinitely easier to re-use companion setups, and easier to switch operator, and also just not break the controller layout all the time.

1+ for editing.

i would like to have the abilite to replace an input. Via the gog i can go to send to input number. It would nice if there would be an entry with replace/swap wich work similar to the move to.

But the move to rearranges all inputs after the number wich is not not fun. If you call things by input number or do a lot of triggers and activators.

A solution where i can precisely create an input new input and swat it agoinst an current working one, and not affeting all inputs would be cool.

The rightclick on cog an the replace would be super feature.

I also would be pleased if the input numbering didn't have to be linear. Both for shortcuts and for project organisation.
Input names are arbitrary already, why shouldn't the numbering be?

If the number 1-1000 already exist, why can't any of the inputs be assigned to any number? I can understand that they would need to display in numerical order but that can be managed by sensible programming at the user end but would allow easy creation of groups to quickly and significantly improve control and enable "Preset" projects to much more easily be populated from a standard file.
