why mess around with the Arduino and Sheild when the Blackmagic SDK/API for SDI out of the various decklink cards has examples for VANC insertion, so it may be possible for vmix to simply insert the Tally and other data in the External SDI out

This is exactly that, what about this feature request is!

would be awesome if this would work: vmix -> decklink card out -> atem studio converter -> cameras get tally

cant understand why tricaster has this possible since years and vmix not :(

Here is proof it can be done from the card

https://github.com/tomto.../Blackmagic-Decklink-CCU

there's no reason why the above can't be tweaked for now to poll vmix for tall info over the TCP/IP API.

But this feature request would consume at leas one external wich is the only one instance wich can use sdi output directly.

there is allready an solution for this a small box from shaarkoj

https://www.skaarhoj.com/products/eth-sdi-link/

the price is ok if you consider developing thier own os with rcp and so but it is still based on the bmd arduino board. but you cant beat that price, if you want to develop this by yourself. after three days you are more expensive then this box.

For Talkback this is an other story. you will need the bmd talkback hub. And this SDI based communication is one thing why i dont like bmd for live envireoment. if you want all the cool stuff you know you are trapped in the bmd eco system and afterwards the price is the same.

have fun

For talkback you would just need Audio Channel 15 and 16 enabled on the SDI External Out, which is unfortunately not possible in Vmix yet.

If anyone is interested: I can confirm that I got this working with the new studio camera 4k, a skaarhoj PTZ Pro controller (the version with two sdi ports integrated) and the help of the skaarhoj support. still have to find out how to use it when changing inputs for the camera but nice to have canon ptz cameras and blackmagic cameras with "almost-native" tally support from vmix now.

I really want this moment to come! BM capture cards are very popular, but it is not clear why vmix still does not support 16 channels of audio input
