For years, literally since 2016, I have tried unsuccessfully to get Martin and crew to consider having a direct record to mp4 option specifically for video delay for immediate automated uploads to social media. I could never get enough support for a feature request so I use OBS for this feature. My beloved Vmix sends NDi to OBS which then records replay buffers directly in Mp4 with 5% CPU. I lug a second machine around just to get quick clips in Mp4.
If replay did this, I would just use that- but I dont see the point in recording in AVI or MPEG2 just to reencode.
I cant get vmix 24 IR to work because I dont have a camera handy (I am assuming - I get an empty object error when using sample input).
So does Vmix finally support recording replay or video delay to Mp4 without reencoding?
This is the ONLY thing about vMix that has frustrated me. I see no point in not offering MP4 as a codec for these applications.

You need a codec which does not require a lot of resources to encode or play or scrub through. MP4 is accually quite bad at those things.

I understand the theory. This is what OBS does with 5% CPu usage on a mid i7, so I think it is well within the range of the existing hardware. What would be the harm in offering it?

It's not only the aspect of the recording performance.
A replay system needs a codec which is also fast in decoding individual frames. And H264 is not fast enough for that (or needs to many ressources).
