I have a 40-50 day event coming up that requires a two way call on a local network. I was thinking of using NDI with Mevo cameras and Vmix.
Would this work?
I am running windows with DeckLink Quad 2 8-Channel. I would hardwire each camera into the network and input to Vmix via NDI. I'd then output 2 signals to monitors that are in each room. Each monitor would show the others camera as the main and I'm thinking a PIP with their camera in the corner like a regular webcam session. I also might add an external microphone if needed.
Am I overcomplicating things using Vmix? Should I try to do something like Zoom instead or a conferencing software? Thoughts?
Thanks!

NDI works well. This is exactly the usecase that it is designed for. However you need to check that the devices are on the same subnet. You will also need to ensure that appropriate ports are open on any firewalls within the signal path and that QOS is not enabled. You should also configure Access Manager with your endpoints. I would suggest running NDI Discovery server on a PC to help in communications between devices as well.
