Hi Martin and Company,
I love your product, it has truly been transformative for us. We run competitive gaming events and tournaments online and use the software as our primary production environment. My problem is I can get Webm to play, but I can not get the transparency to be recognized. We have extremely fast PCI-E SSDs that have throughput of nearly 3GBs, so uncompressed AVI's are certainly used but there are still times when I am loading up 3 or so 1GBs bitrate AVIs that I'd like to use webM to supplement the load on the disks bandwidth by using far lower bitrate videos and having a somewhat higher CPU usage from the decode.
The single advantage xsplit seems to have is they are able to handle these perfectly.
Is there something I am missing? Planar .MOV files fluctuate too much in bitrate to use and Webm always delivered superb quality at very low bitrates.

Hi
Did you try playing WebM with alpha with VLC and NDI to vMix? Never tried myself but if alpha is recognized by VLC, it is likely to be kept by NDI.

It works perfectly yes, been using Vmix for Hearthstone production with Vmix sending Alpha overlays to Tricaster with Vmix and it's perfect
For now i'm using Quicktime with PNG codec and it's okay, but WebM is really lighter so it would be easier on the system (altough with my 3 new Z620, i think they can handle it :) )
I have a "In" video transition for a scoreboard with a trigger which activate at the end to fade in names, scores and flag, so i'm looking to directly put the file into Vmix because it must start when scene load :)

Really hoping this gets added. I can't believe that OBS supports it and loads the alpha channels for webm files and vmix does not. Making it harder and harder to stick with vmix.

What about the Newtek codecs? They support alpha, we use them all of the time.

I'm not familiar with WEBM but I use vMix to send graphics or video with alphas to another vMix machine or Tricaster over NDI all the time.

Hello Martin, are you considering for native Webm support in Vmix by any chance ? It would be awesome to have a lightweight codec with alpha support, it's already working great in Xsplit and OBS so i'm wondering if there is any reason it is not supported yet ? it's so practical. Thank you for your time, Cheers Valentin

Want to request support for this as well. Converting to a .MOV with transparency is not an option due to the sheer file size difference. a WEBM may be 25mb, but the same quality MOV will be 300MB+.

Can we please get this implemented? I have some really nice 1080p60 webm's that look really nice but NDI only supports 1080p30. Since it's been 2+ years since this topic was opened and OBS already has this implemented(almost from day 1), it's making it difficult to get things like stingers(with audio) and other animated overlays implemented(using multiview, overlay channels, or otherwise). Could really really use this feature in vMix. So far the way I've been able to implement it has been the following: For a webm that needs to play on loop: Create an html webpage that plays the webm as an html5 video(doesn't have to be hosted, just locally in the same folder as the webm video file): https://gitlab.com/-/snippets/2000532 and add as a web browser input type For a webm that needs to play as a video: 1) convert the webm to a PNG sequence using FFMPEG 2) use adobe after effects to add the PNG sequence, then export as Quicktime with RGB+Alpha and render as a .mov OR 1) convert the webm to a PNG sequence using FFMPEG 2) rip the audio from the WEBM and use triggers in vmix to play the audio when the image sequence is needed

Would love to see webm support implemented. They are stellar as Stingers with alpha channel and embedded audio. Also please give us the option for more stingers!
vMix is incredible in so many ways. Sad to see it being outperformed by cheaper (or free!) consumer products on this.

+1 bump for .webm support into vMix
.mov is always big in size and cause lag to the system when we have too many .mov as our alpha video to act as the Lower Third.
Sometime I have to switch to OBS just because our designer have limited time to render all the mov file and .webm file save alot of time.
And Yes! Please also please give us the more option to add more stingers! And more overlay button instead of 4 for now.
Please help to implement our suggestion, it will definitely help us alot!

Another vote for webm support with transparency.
I create animated graphics (countdown timers, call to actions, stingers, particle animations) for streamers who use OBS, Ecamm, and vMix - and vMix is the only one that doesn't support webm with transparency.

I agree wholeheartedly. I need this feature in my life. It would help my workflow so much and allow so many cool options for structuring shows.
