I've started using vMix Call (well trying it) and I've read the instructions in the help section but I can't seem to hear the guests unless I press the Solo button.
My set-up
Guest - Set to Bus A Producer - Set to Bus A
Is there a way I can have a conversation without pressing the Solo button? It's all okay when we go live. Also I can always hear myself (yes I've selected mute in the headphones).

That's the way the headphones output works: You hear the Master output, or the input (or bus) you soloed. And when you solo your mic input (or bus that includes your mic input) you hear yourself.
There are probably different ways to go, I like to setup a bus where I route all the inputs I want to hear (so not my own mic). I solo this bus when I need to, eg. before going live.

Not sure what Control Surface you're using, if any. But you can create 3 shortcuts with the same key.
That shortcut should:
Set producer mic to on on Bus A (master off) Solo Caller input Set Caller audio to Bus A
Then do another shortcut that does the oposite, you got yourself a talkback button.
