My comments are intended not to be negative but a warning about the direction of future development.

Question:

Who is vmix listening to ?
Who has the vmix development teams ear ?
Where is the vmix road map ?

There is no argument that vmix is an amazing product and very stable.
But as someone who worked in both network tv production as well as IT Software development, I am concerned about the future direction of the product.

As someone who uses vmix extensively my concern is the race to add more and more features will eventually make the product unusable.
Yes there are things we all need and want and it is import to keep up with competitive products, I get that.
But if the product becomes so complex and the interface is too obtuse, does it matter how many bells and whistles it has ?

Steve Jobs said it best “Simple can be harder than complex: You have to work hard to get your thinking clean to make it simple."

Here is my point...
Vmix is great from a computer perspective but it is awful from a TV Production prospective.
It is NOT designed for live, fast paced adhoc production.
Its great if you can pre-program all the buttons and shortcuts, macros, scripts. But if you have to change something in the middle of a production, you are screwed.

Its time vmix consider polishing the tools they have instead of adding more bells and whistles.
It is time to create more drag and drop and less sliders, drop downs and clunky "computer" controls.
It looks like vmix has used every built-in library that the development tool they are using provided.
But these API Libraries do not work for someone who is in a Production Environment.

Industry is Changing
I believe if vmix does not start focusing more on the TD and Producer and less on the computer jockey that another company will emerge to eat away their market share. A more user friendly, faster setup and more production oriented could cause a major shift in vmix's business model.

Look at the work someone like Streamyard is doing. Now are they NOT in the same space as vmix, no not yet. But I see the a lot of people moving from zoom to Streamyard to up their production quality. And after all, you can have all the bells and whistles you want but if you don't or can't use them what good do they do ?

Coming from a Broadcast background since 1985, I second this sentiment on the future of vMix. I feel that it is pivotal that vMix continues with it's evolution by adding pertinent features and especially fixes that us users have been asking for some time now. Although adequate, the user interphase is in need of true modernization. Listening to the tried and true broadcaster/users is imperative for success. I have a perfect example of a feature that is sorely missing, and that the competition already has a leg-up on over vMix. To be able to perform, on-the-fly squeeze/Zooms for Live Shots and Graphics has been available now on other switchers and should have, I believe, been already available. Here is a short mockup demo video of what the effect might look and perform like.

For the few that would use this , prob easy to do with an autohotkey script ( it has the functions for it if you get the math right ;-))
