We recently added an inexpensive camera (Sony Handycam) to our setup. The camera works well, but our guest speakers have requested that we have a way to let them know which camera is live. I know that vMix supports the tally function, but the hardware is confusing to me. What inexpensive ways are there that we can add some tally lights to our cameras and also be compatible with vMix?

I have two computers (in different locations) and I tried Tally Light Pro and Unofficial vMix Tally. They both work on the first computer. A really neat idea. However, on the second machine, where they will be used, they will not connect. I assume I have a URL/network issue, but don't have a clue about how to troubleshoot the issue.

For many reasons, I don't like Tally over wifi. If you want a diy cabled tally light system, this could be a solution.

Thanks for all the replies. I was able to get "Unofficial vMix Tally" and "Tally Light Pro" to work on two vMix computers. I was never able to get "Tally for vMix" to work - it would not connect to the network. There were a few other comments about that on the Google play store (IP address is wrong, or cannot connect, etc). Regardless, it looks like "Unofficial vMix Tally" is exactly what I need. I have two old cell phones, one for each camera that we can mount near the cameras. When you make each camera active in vMix, it shows red on the cell phone screen.

We just purchased eight MetaSETZ Tally Lights and the controller. Worked really, really well on a five camera shoot with a lot of quick camera changes for talent, they nailed them and loved the Tally lights. https://www.metasetz.com...tally-lights/vmix-tally/

Has anybody tried any of the DIY tally systems? Or better yet, is there anybody that builds them to sell. We got the unofficial vMix Tally to work using 2 cell phones, and I like the concept. The only down side to this is that you have to pair the phones each time you start vMix and then if you add an input after that, it confuses the app and the phones do not work. We worked around that, but it's still less than desirable, and that is why we are looking for another solution. I like the metasetz, but am still interested in a DIY system. I am just not in a position to do the work right now, so would like to know if anybody makes them to sell. It would be nice to see pictures of the finished product.

I can second the M5stick solution. I am working on a version of it that uses the M5stack ATOM Matrix. The advantage is that it's much brighter and costs the same - doesn't have a battery but I suspect most would use it connected to power anyway.
