Hi there
Is there a way a client can test if his vCall connection to the vMix system works, without a vMIx project running?
I would like to invite a bunch of people for a show in a few weeks. It would be nice if they can check their connection with vMix without me.
So maybe a link to spoof vMix call were they can check if the video/audio from him to vMix and return works?
Kind regards
Bart

If there isn't a copy of vmix hosing the vmix call, there is nothing they can call into to test.... it would be like testing a DVD without a DVD player
They'll need to test the call with you hosting the call, really no way around that.

It would be just for testing if the camera and audio works with vMix. So the client already knows his camera/audio and settings are okay before you do the testing with the host.

They could try any WebRTC based video chat service. For example: https://meet.jit.si or https://talky.ioYou need to be aware that the browser allows access to the camera/mic based upon the web site. That is, they can use the sites above as a test, but they may still need be promoted to allow device access when connecting to vMix Call.

They should be able to go into their browser settings and set what the video and audio input is. https://support.google.c...form%3DDesktop&hl=en

How would the caller actually know their camera and audio worked if no one is on the receiving end to verify?

I think this would be a good idea as well. For my vmix sessions we usually send out a document with instructions on how to set up their Chrome, especially if we are sending camera/mic kits to guests. We then try to schedule a test a day or two in advance to make sure they can connect and their image and network connections are working. Or we pad in an extra 20 minutes to the beginning to make sure they are set. However, we still run into issues where we're not entirely sure where the connection problem exists. Vmix call is dependent on the network connectivity between guest and host and everything in-between. So sometimes it is hard to determine if the issue with the guest or the Vmix host. Recently had a session in which 3 people weren't able to connect to VMIX. After some troubleshooting it appears that they had VPNs running for connectivity to our corporate network that was blocking completing the connection. Another had poor wireless and/or internet connectivity. Having some sort of simple diagnostic dial in that might spit out a report on connection quality, whether ports might be blocked, etc... a simple video audio return that may at least show they are sending/receiving video/audio might be a real help.

What would be nice is if there is a way for a user to determine if they have any firewall blocking issues. So it would be great if there was some way a user could verify at their convenience that their network will allow them to pass audio and video on the correct ports.
