Hello! I was attempting to consolidate the 20+ lower third video files I use throughout a stream into a list to save on inputs however I can’t seem to trigger the correct video. I use a Launchpad to control the stream so when inputting the button action for a video I select the overlay1in, the list and then a video from the list however when I press it the list only plays in order and will not select a specific video.

That same arrangement works when the videos are just individual inputs so I’m wondering if I’m doing something wrong in trying to access the list that way? Anyone else have this issue? I searched the forums and online but didn’t see the answer, apologies if this is common sense I’m missing, and thanks in advance!

I believe you have to select the desired video in your list prior to use your overlay shortcut. Which make it a 2 step operation which is not very convenient.

I'd say that using video files for titles is not recommended
- one for the management issue you face
- second alpha videos will tax the CPU/GPU enormously
- third they offer no easy solution to add a name or correct a typo. Videos must be re-edited.

Did you try using vMix native titles with GT (or create your own)?

See this Post for a workaround, and the whole thread for a discussion of the problem:

@dmwkr
although your solution is possible, such a workflow would require 20+ shortcuts in order to be sure to use the desired video as an overlay... Very messy imho...

If the OP wants to stick to this list solution, I'd rather go for a right click on the input to pick the right video and then use a shortcut

Yes, that's true, and one of the parts of (neverending) learning vMix: You learn what to do and what *not* to do... ;-)

Thank you! Based on this and the other responses I see that it won’t be quite as simple as I’d hoped but no worries, the way I have it works so I’ll defer to “don’t fix” haha.

In response to the file type - yes an included vmix lower third would certainly be easier however the production calls for animated, grungy song titles that appear MTV style and I just have to follow what song it is, no concrete set list. AAANND I am also the sound mixer so don’t have a free hand for the mouse, hence running everything through the launchpad :) Works great, I was just wanting to streamline even more if possible, thank you all for the replies!
