I'm going to be selling some animated lower thirds and comment templates that I have created in GT.

Will users who purchase them need specific versions of vMix for the animated parts to play?

Thanks! I searched the forum before posting but wasn't able to find an answer. I also looked at the product comparison but wasn't sure if the features referred to the creation of animated titles vs playing animated titles. Now I know the answer.

OK, this is somewhat confusing as you have asked two slightly different questions.
So just to clarify for the benefit of all:

Do animations play in all versions of vMix?
- Custom made GT Titles with GT Tittle Designer: NO
- only the included vMix Template GT Titles play in all editions

Will users who purchase them (templates that I have created) need specific versions of vMix for the animated parts to play?
- As Doggy has correctly answered: YES
You need vMix 4K or vMix Pro editions to play Custom Animated GT Titles
