SKYGIF - IDEA VILLAGE
Background: Audio Engineer (10Yrs)
VMix: Simply impressed with the software design and vMix's ability to adapt.
1. Input/Output DB meters for the compressor
2. Add a noise gate in the window where the compressor is (I really like the settings for the noise gate but it would love more control)
3. "Default Audio Renderer" is a confusing title
4. Recording Memory Buffer Explanation (This is important enough to have a little description that tells non audio engineers what it does exactly)
5. Main Video Output defaults to Full screen when a preset is opened regardless of whether or not you saved it in a preset as multiview. (Would like it to open up to multiview)
6. ClearCom-like feature where the folks on camera inputs can privately communicate while a video (or other input) is Live.
7. DJ's may want to use this...Clarify what additional pieces do they need to buy to do a Live DJ event with stock video effects, music videos, live cameras, and a Mic.
8. PowerPoint Clicker Support...Also program the left and right arrow keys to advance the slides.
9. Settings Options are in a tough place. Give users the option to customize a section of the main window. Users can place icons for their favorite features. (Max 8 small optional icons)
10. Many users will just use cut and fade transitions so there is a lot of wasted space in the middle of the main page.
11. Settings Options - Auto Pause, Auto Restart, and Auto Play should be global and "local" (controlled on each input channel) This along with #9 would do wonders.
12. Add 2 audio aux outs to the mixer (We need to be able to dial in a completely separate mix to these Aux outputs.) They need master controls and Pre and Post buttons on each aux out.
13. Input Select screen needs optional explanations. A check box enabling or disabling these simple descriptions will help both new users and pros.
14. Chroma-Key Eyedropper should switch to an eyedropper icon when engaged. As of now when clicked the eyedropper tool is simply an arrow. (Cursor)
15. On the XY ChromaKey Position Screen the reset buttons are cut off by about 90%. The only visible piece of the button is on the left side of the button. (Button works fine)
16. Rethink Chroma-Key XY position functionality. Not everyone will use a green or blue screen. Adjusting the size of the actual video inside a virtual set is difficult.

SKYGIF - Live Performances, DAW Integration, Mixer Improvements, Likes, and SYNC Ideas

VMix: Simply impressed with the software design and vMix's ability to adapt.
17. Interface vMix with Cubase, Protools, and Nuendo (CuPr&Nu). Technology already in place - we have the ability to feed a live board mix into any DAW (Audio Program on a CPU). We need vMix to be able to take a Master Stereo feed from (CuPr&Nu) into the input section of vMix. In addition, we need to be able to input the raw mix (The individual (CuPr&Nu) input channels) separately if desired. The purpose is to be able to use all the hi-end processing, i.e. compressors, Limiters, plugins, effects, etc. that audio programs already have built in.
18. We need the ability to un-mount and re-size the audio mixer, drag and maximize it on a separate screen. For many users this "Console View" is more useful than the various video preview modes.
19. The Audio Mixer needs more audio options, effects, buses, subgroups, and aux outs. With these changes a band can use vMix to broadcast or capture its performances with high quality results.
20. When video signal is lost the last image still stays up on the screen. When it is restored the video signal does not automatically come back up. We need a Refresh Button.
21. Inputs without thumbnails such as "Audio Input" which shows up black in the input bar, needs a generic icon. In the case of the audio input a picture of a U87 or a SM58 microphone would make identifying inputs easier
22. Clarify what a virtual input does and how it interfaces with Skype. If a webcam is connected to vMix via usb, Skype shows and error message saying that the webcam is being used by another program. Vise Versa, if the webcam is being used by Skype you can't use it in vMix. What is the solution?
23. FEATURES WE LIKE - QWERTYUIOP Shortcuts are really helpful to quickly switch the preview screen. ZXCVBNM Shortcuts are really helpful to quickly switch the inputs on the program output. We Love the Space bar Shortcut that remembers your last transition and switches between preview and program with the space-bar. The ability to create personalized shortcuts is really nice. Delaying and compressing audio and video is a treat. The responsiveness of the program is perfect with no lag.
24. We need a way to auto sync our voice with the video from camera feeds. As of now, we simple eye-ball it. We need the ability to do a "Test Sync" on a separate floating window. This test will allow us to record a few seconds of audio and video, see the waveform, and manually sync it with our mouth ( or a hand clap, or a movie clap board. This will ensure perfect sync quickly.
25. I don't have the full HD Pro version so I can't comment on many of the other features. I have a trial version phobia. I am running the $52 Basic HD version. Thanks for leaving a reply on this thread. Would like to know your thoughts and ideas on improving vMix.
