Hi,
we've got a new ThreadRipper based system (3970X CPU, RTX2080 Super GPU, 64GB RAM, 2 x M.2 SSD, 2 x BMD Decklink 8K Pro) and I'v got problems with the machine.
Preset looked like this:
Logitech BRIO 4K
7 x vMixCall
NDI signal from another vMix machine
2 x NDI signals to other vMix machines
some PNG backdrops and some frames made in GT Titler to assemble different multiviews for the callers
an MP4 video with a countdown animation (I know how to do that in vMix, but the agency wanted something nicer)
The preset was set to 1080p30.
All in all it were something around 30 inputs, which is laughable in comparison to other setups, where I handled more than 100 different inputs with vMixCall, different camera sources (NDI, NDI|HX, Blackmagic capture cards). But this overkill system we built, couldn't handle the inputs with recording and streaming. Render times switched between something under 10ms to over 30ms and I got multiple GPU Overload messages.
I already reinstalled the machine because I thought, something went wrong with the installation. At the moment the system only has installed Focusrite Control, Blackmagic Drivers, vMix, Skaarhoj vMix Bridge (ok, just a binary without installation) and that's it.
Any idea where I should start looking for possible fails and fixes?

Is the gpu card plugged in a x16 slot?

try to remove the BM cards. it could be a problem with PCIE lanes, since you have also 2 M2 SSD's, they share the lanes.
when the problem is gone, add one card at a time. if the problem persists, it must be something else :-(

It also could be the order of the cards
so aslo try to place the GPU in an other slot
what's the MB ypu use?

what's the MB ypu use? I tried different slot positions and ran in the same problems. It's an ASUS ROG Zenith II Extreme.

I removed the Blackmagic Decklink 8K cards and did a fresh installation of Windows. Besides all mainboard drivers I only installed the Nvidia drivers and vMix.
My test setup was a vMixCall preset in 1080p25: I had 8 incoming calls, did an MP4 recording in 75 MBit/s, a stream in 2,5 MBit/s 720p, recorded all vMixCalls in MultiCorder and used a playlist to switch between inputs. When starting the MultiCorder render times went over 90 ms for a moment and then they went back and forth from around 9 ms to around 30 ms all the time and I got a "GPU Overload" message. CPU usage at that moment was around 5 to 7 %...
Also without the MultiCorder I never got stable render times. My test today was relatively short. So I can't say, if I run into "GPU Overload" without the MultiCorder, bun anyway something seems to be wrong. I used vMixCall with much, much lower specs and it went perfectly well. This machine should do the work easily without any errors or problems.

A couple more things. Make sure you have no browser running, Google Sheets, Vimeo are both notorious for sucking the performance our of a computer.
Go to your Nvidia settings and be sure to add Vmix64 under the program performance tab and set it to high performance.
Double check your power settings under advanced and make sure everything is set to high performance.

I had similar "GPU Overload" warning with a laptop with RTX2060, which had no issues the week before and has been running for a year with the same hardware setup. It turns out that the "Battery performance setting" had change somehow. After setting it back to "Best performance" the render time was back to about 9 ms (instead of +50 ms), and no GPU warning anymore.

At first I thought of driver issues on newer hardware, since my laptop runs on a 1660 Ti and it seems underutilized (usage stays almost flat no matter what vMix is doing). CPU bucks like a bronco mostly from windows processes...but is [more consistently] affected by vMix usage. Did you happen to have made any special tweaks to offload CPU use to your GPU? Hardware acceleration doesn't seem to change the usage ratio for me.
