Hello vmix Folks...

So i have this really strange problem. I am getting Recording Frames dropped (10min 16 frames so far) (Using HEVC 8Mbit at its native system setting 1080p/59.94) Recording to SSD EVO SSD's 970 not to the OS Drive (Also EVO 970)
I also see Rendered frames dropped on my BMD Quad Duo 2 Card. (120 Frames / hour) for each input (i am currently using 4 channels / of 8) HD 1080/59.94

I am using a x299 MB Gbyte Designare 10G

18Core i9-7980XE
32GB DDR4 DRAM 2666Mhz
2x Samsung 970Pro SSDs
1x EVGA GeForce RTX 2080 Ti Black Edition GFX card
Using a Clean Install of Windows 10PRo (nothing else installed)

I can not figure out why i have performance issues on a simple 4HD input Signal with basic recording...

Any help would be appreciated.

Thank you very much.

Are you looping a 30s video by any chance and recording that?

Not sure what you mean by render times... I am running this for several minutes and dropped frames happened within seconds

sometimes that may be the case and sometimes there just live video feeds coming in... either way this should not happen on a machine like that i think.

Render time shows up at the bottom of VMix. Anything about 30 means you will be dropping frames.

They are at around 23 and over sometimes to 50 and down to 11 it seems. But even when they are at 23 i get dropped frames on the external virtual out put and on the recordings. in addition to the capture card that keeps dropping rendered frames.

You are not seeing them in real time, if you are seeing 50ms ever on that machine, you have a problem, most likely hardware, or hardware configuration.

Are you certain VMix is using your main card? Is it selected in your settings?

Can you post a screenshot of your stats?

I'm sure you've seen this but just in case: https://www.vmix.com/kno...2/optimising-performance

Also double-check that your input settings match the actual frame rate of the unit you are capturing. Is this coming from cameras?

Thank you for your help in this..

I am certainly in trouble my render time is at 23ms by default and i have not even started recording or other things... only the 8 inputs are on.
The strange thing is that my GPU mem is at %15 and the CPU vmix is at 5% and yet it is at 23ms render time.

Where are the stats in Vmix ?

Look bottom right, it looks likes a bar graph.

If you go to graphics, performance, what card do you see there?

For reference, I run an 8 Core i9 Macbook pro with 63 inputs and I'm averaging 6 ms :-)

That is incredible ... i am at 11ms by just turning it on and without a preset running just the plain menu.

Here are the stats with the Preset where i am using 6 HD inputs at 1080p/59.94p
Vmix Stats.PNG (25kb) downloaded 2 time(s). this was running for about 5 minutes

All of these input drops could be normal, but not the recording and render drops.

The render time isn't right either. I would go back to the performance link I posted earlier and make sure you go through all of those.

How are you bringing all these inputs in? And is this a custom-built PC? Do you have the driver from NVidia installed?

I went through the performance check list and followed all the advice on it.
I bring those in through a BMD Decklink Quad 2 (8 Channel HD Input) Card.

This is a custom build. And yes the lates drivers from nvidia not the nvidia experience software as mentioned not to have.

And your NVidia card is in the X16 PCI lane with the BM in the X8 lane?

No i think the BMD is on the second 16x slot. that MB has 2 16x slots the other 2x8 slots are empty

I already asked, but in your performance settings, is VMix set to use your NVidia card in the drop-down?

I've also seen BIOS settings where it's set to share the 16x lanes, I would double-check that as well.

You could also try putting the BMD in the 8X slot to see if anything changes.

Finally, go through your power settings and make sure it's all set to maximum performance under advanced.
