Hello,

We are building presets with roughly 100 inputs on a regular basis and would like the ability to renumber inputs without dragging the input.
The ability to lock and unlock a input number would also be very helpful.

Use case:

Monitoring sources in full screen multi view.
We accidentally change the input number when rearranging other inputs so we need to go back into settings and change the multi view source every time this happens.

Thanks for considering this request.

Kenny

in my opinion it would be even better if the input itself could be assigned and not the number, like other parts of the program

we are facing similar problems we have to work around all the time. There is also some inconsitency with dragging inputs and destroying certain settings, because some unctions refer to the input name, some to input number. For instance after dragging inputs around the activators have the wrong input set.Shortcuts usually are ok, but the thumbnails on a streamdeck must be reset after rearanging the input order. also the settings of the outputs have to be checked after rearanging the inputs, since these stick to the input number, not name.

We have learned that we only add inputs at the end during a show or short before a show, not risking to break anything. That however ends in a terrible mess in the input window that does not comply with my sense of tidyness.

Having all functions consistently set by input name and not some functions by number, others by name, would be the best solution. Just like Xaver said.

But I could also imagine this solution to give more flexibility:
If we could set the numbers manually with leaving out numbers, then we could arrange all cams to 10-19, all audio to 30-39, all pics to 100-199 etc.

I am breaking output and MV assignments all the time.

It would be nice to lock input numbers or maybe specify that inputs can have certain number outside the current numbering system.
for example, if you have 30 inputs, you can only set a input between 1 and 30. If we could set a input to number 80, any reordering, additions or subtractions woululd not change the input numbers highter up, therefore not messing up assignments with outputs or other assignments.

I want to position my CAM 1 virtual PTZ presets to 101-1xx, CAM2 to 201-2xx etc. so that all the other inputs will not shift everytime I add a virtual preset.

+1 Maybe it’s better to use input name instead of input number. VMIX can use internal unique “key” (for example “c75863a-a4ee-430d-139f-cdd1a7737ed2”) to detect which input to use on an output, multiview and others.

I believe that you can only choose the input number if it isn't already used. Eg if I have 10 inputs and want to have number 11 input as number 3 input then I can't - correct? The reason I want to do this is to move more easily around in the Web Controller using a phone (in the main screen, not the shortcut screen) which of course has a smaller screen to navigate around on

This is an absolute must, many shortcuts and show files have been broken by closing or moving an input! Once an input has got a number assigned that should remain.

Well hey there, Kenny. I came here to make this request myself.

+1, please consider adding this feature asap, as it's vital for pro users and integrations.

Thanks!
