Resolution question and dots on video?

I have vMix HD.
So, although I have 1900 x 1080 selected everywhere I can find a resolution option, and my cameras are capable in recording in those resolutions in HD, the output save video file is much smaller and much lower quality in terms of picture quality, the FPS are quite astonishing. When I check the video properties is states the width/height are 720 x 480. Am I missing something here???? On full screen the recorded video should fill my entire screen, yet it maintains a solid black border and I can't seem to find out why.
Also, on all the saved videos there appears to be a small grid of dots all over the video, like little perforations covering the entire image, like a watermark of some sort. What is this and how do I get rid of it?

Hi,
You might be using the DV codec when recording which has a maximum resolution of 720x480. Select instead another recording option such as MPEG-2, MP4 or WMV or install an AVI codec that supports HD (CineForm GoPro Studio for one)

So, switching to the MPG 2 output format did remove the small dots and improved the quality dramatically, however I still have the smaller image, and cant locate the DV codec option you mentioned.

I believe a combination of factors were the issue, in the end I chose the anamorphic output ratio and got the desired result. Thanks for your help!
