What methods are available to get video and audio embedded in a Powerpoint to play through vMix? As I understand it, the Powerpoint input does not play video or audio. Video/audio also doesn't work when played through the online presenter. Nor does it seem to work using Desktop Capture, at least not the audio. I am guessing there must be a way to bring in audio through NDI by running it on another computer but I haven't figured that out yet.

I did learn that video/audio from a presentation will indeed play through into vMix using the screen share feature of the beta.vmixcall.com. That is as long as the presenter is not wearing headphones. If the presenter has headphones plugged in, the audio will not play through for some reason.

It's best if you do this from a separate computer. You can capture that computers screen+sound via HDMI capture device, or use NDI Scan Converter or vMix Desktop capture. A hardware approach is likely to deliver superior frame-rate for full motion video.

Audio routing makes it challenging to setup on one computer.

Thanks. So what you're saying is connect the second computer's HDMI output to a capture device and connect that capture device to the vMix machine?

I tried using the NDI Desktop capture app on the second computer and didn't receive any audio.

vMix Desktop Capture should work, with sound.

If it doesn't you can try Newtek NDI Scan Convertor. It has a control allow you to specify the source of the audio.

Being a software solution, it puts load on the computer. You may find that it doesn't deliver the frame rate/quality you might desire. That's when I reach for a hardware solution.

The HDMI output of the computer can pass audio & video to the HDMI capture device, onward to your vMix.
