8 is 2 times 4... so with 4 you can do 8 easily. Once set a DynInput is free for another use...

8 would certainly cram the dropdown menus too much...

However an option could be to get 4 through the GUI for easy visual access and maybe a few more only available through the API or scripts. This would not alter the presentation in the GUI too much...
