I am trying to use a Roland V-1HD with vMix - but it doesn't show up in the listing of cameras available. Roland says that this device doesn't need drivers installed, and that it is plug and play. Any help with this would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Paul,

how do you connect the mixer to the PC? And what do you want to do with it with vMix? "Doesn't need drivers" maybe refers to the remote control software Roland offers, but for vMix it still means you have got to capture the HDMI output of the mixer somehow.

The V-1HD is connected by USB to the PC running vMix. The computer acknowledges that the device has been connected with the standard sound effect playing when connected to the USB on the computer. I am trying to use this device as a capture card. I have read elsewhere that this device is compatible with vMix, and should appear in the camera section, when choosing Add Input.

This is not a capture device. According to https://proav.roland.com...ts/v-1hd/specifications/ this USB connector is "for remote control from PC".

AFAIK it's not a capture card for video, if I remember correct:only audio (did you see it as a sound card in the device manager?

Do you see it in vMix as "Audio Input"?

V-1HD is only a video switcher, it will not be recognized as a camera source.

You must send the output of the V-1HD to a capture device.

One way to use it is to send the output of the V-1HD to an elgato cam link. This will give you the 1080p60 feed from the Roland into your computer.

Late reply but I recently came across this issue using a Roland V-1HD+.

Solved using a Decimator MD-LX and Magewell USB Capture SDI Plus. Expensive workaround.

If anyone knows a more cost effective method I’d love to hear it!

Search Amazon for "HD Video Encoder", they offer several for less than $300 so pick the one that has the right connection and then you'll have a Ethernet stream of the video you can tap into as an input. We are running three cameras this way with NO capture card in our PC which has allowed us to take the cameras to off site events and use a laptop connected to a mobile hotspot to stream live instead of our main in-house system because ethernet is easy and relatively cheap to wire up.

Edit: There are now some that encode to NDI/HX, so add NDI to that search if you'd prefer to go that route.
