I am building a control surface for Vmix and the buttons a working well

Question

does anyone know how to use the MIDI commands menu in Shortcuts to signal that the following data stream 255 to 0 is fader position data and should not be used by other MIDI commands until 0 is reached, but instead should move the fader ( current problem)

I do not have an answer to your question, but would like to see you control surface GUI....and what are the possibilities of it....maybe a demo video would be great....or even a demo to be tested by us who use vMix....

I was going to ask the same thing lol. Can you send a pic or a short video? I am interested.

On the MIDI try searching YouTube and their are a handful of training videos that show people setting this up.

The buttons have a midi note, the fader has a control change. Maybe I didn't understand your problem but if in shortcut window you click on "add" and "find", just move the fader and a control change value is assigned.
