I'm not sure people are understanding how Overlays work. There are four Overlay channels. That doesn't restrict you to just 4 actual overlays. You can put as many overlays you want on one overlay channel as long as it design of the channel fit with your needs.
So I basically have one overlay channel which is full screen and one which is a lower third type. I often chop and change the other two.
I have about 4 completely different overlays on the full screen overlay channel.

If I put Input 3 as Overlay 4 (press the litle 4 under input 3) and next Input 5 as overlay 4 (press the litle 4 under input 5), Input 3 is out of Overlay 4, only Input 5 is on Air now Or is there an other way to do it with overlays?

How can you change the overlay for a unique stream?

Selecting a source for Output 2, 3 and 4 The Cog Button contains a drop down menu for selecting a source for any additional outputs in real time ( Available in vMix 4K and Pro)

At the moment we use vMix22 and there it's not possible to set a different outputs to different streams. So for now I will use NTRStreamer for the clean feed and vMix for the main mix Thank's for your help

Bump!
Need more overlay input for graphics overlay, 4 overlay somehow limit my creativity on production If we got more overlay channel, we can use the extra to do movement in and out
I suggest overlay input should not be limit to 4 only

This post is for feature requests, not reasons to not do them with workarounds that are limiting. I need more than 4, because I have different effects assigned for each. The effects cannot be changed by API, and changing while the overlay is on, doesn't get used when the overlay is removed. This requirement for more overlays is quite large, and has been in for a long time, and does not get followed up on, or even explained. Out of all the many features, this is very important. With a product that has a lot of development, why are we waiting so long for this limitation to be acted on ?

+ 1 for 2 more.
I also need the preview and duration option of the overlays and can't use the Multiview overlays.

Bump to this feature request again!
More overlay channels give much more creativity to the show! With the four overlay limitations that can't be changed when using/after overlay with API / companion, I once went for OBS Studio with a free "Move" plugin to play my PIP and lower third with a customizable setting in a way that transitions in and out.
Coming to almost eight years of this thread and feature request, I am unsure what the blocker is here.
Please respond officially.

Please respond officially. Totally agree with more OVERLAYS, but as time went i learnd to work with scripting and multiviews so i put lot of things in multi and by script just pressed and played transition IN/OUT as it's needed ;-)
