I am trying to add a Youtube video stream as input.
I am assuming the the correct tab is the Addinput / stream
in the dialog, I am not sure what to specify for the Type and ports if necessary.
I have tried either of the TCP settings , but get invalid port or some other error.
I have specified the youtube URL as:

which did not work ,
Also ,
https://www.youtube.com/v/CdXesX6mYUE
did not work either

please advise.

Hi,

YouTube videos should be downloaded to your computer first and played from there.
There are various download tools available to do this.

You can obviously bring in your youtube videos into vMix via:

Add Input --> Flash/RTMP

Paste the full URL in the field and OK, and your video will be in vMix as an input.

Is there a legal reason for this? , since, I see a great value into live streaming a content that may be on line.
I am trying to do a DJ application where the music video is on youtube. so , having it live allows to have the DJ take real time requests, where there is no time to download the video.

My alternative method may be to do a desktop capture of a browser pointing to the youtube file.
please advise.
thanks,

using the addinput RTM, did not come back with error from vmix, it was able to add it as input, however, upon play, the youtube screen displays that it is restricted to playback on certain sites. !!! .
so not sure if this method works.

Certain youtube videos are restricted from playing outside youtube anyway.

I guess desktop capture will be your best bet.

all the best
