Question about bus audio meters - bus audio meters pre/post or L/R

Just a quick question.

Audio sources show meters with four bars for stereo content:

L/R pre, L/R post, all labeled.

Audio busses, including master, have one block labeled "post" that looks like it should be L/R but seem to be behaving like mono pre/post.

Am I crazy or is this how the bus meters actually work?
