I need to send out a link for our services on Sunday Morning as soon as possible. I need to set up a new YouTube Live Stream, but I do not want to use vMix for this Live Stream.

We successfully connected vMix to YouTube and have done several Live Streaming tests, but we need different hardware. Now every time I try to create a new Live Stream on YouTube, YouTube wants me to connect my streaming software. I am assuming I need to do something in vMix to stop it from connecting to YouTube.

I had vMix disconnected from YouTube, but this morning it appears to have reconnected itself again. What do I need to do in vMix?

Do you know if YouTube will recognize this change instantaneously? Or does it take a few minutes or so for YouTube to disconnect and return to YouTube Studio?

Thank you,
Ed Podowski

You shouldn't have to disconnect vMix, just use the software or hardware the way you did before using vMix.

I agree, but YouTube thinks I want to stream using an encoder. I cannot find any settings in YouTube Studio that would default to using encoder software, i.e. vMix. But this was not an issue before I used vMix to do a test live stream.

So how do you stream without vMix? Through a webcam?

I think the program was defaulting to webcam and now it doesn't. I didn't remember selecting it, so when it defaulted to YouTube Live Stream and wanted to use encoder software, I thought it was vMix still connected to our YouTube Channel. It wasn't.

For now, we are only using a webcam, but we are planning to use cameras in the very near future. Thanks for your input, but I think my panic was not well-founded. Putting on a Live Stream is stressful, especially when you never really did this before. I run several Internet and IT-related companies, but live streaming is another whole skill set. I have learned a lot since the COVID-19 Crisis and the lockdown.

Until next time.

Good luck for your livestream, and happy learning! Keep it up!
