Hi Martin,
it's the end of the year so I go through some notes and found one feature request that maybe is easy to implement:
for heavy streaming sessions it is good practice to seperate machines: let one vmix machine do the mixing and recording and a second machine dedicated for streaming. this is easy to do: just output machine 1 and input into machine 2.
the drawback is that you need to use an output and an input card ( screen output through hdmi can be used but this is tricky p.e. because screen is output at 60 fps and i use 50 - still you would need a computer with a capture card...)
would it be possible to use the desktop capture function for this? If modified it would be possible to output through a wired connection and capture the signal in a second machine on the same gigabit hub. this then can proces the signal and stream it using fmle.
video and sound could be output just the way it is done for desktop capturing but dedicated to input video in a second vmix machine ( so no need to run the desktop capture seperately, just a setting to activate in the external settings window). the second machine would recognize the signal just as it works with desktop capture.
this way any computer or laptop hanging around could be used for streaming.
using a second networkcard on the streaming machine could make it a dedicated connection, but using a high speed hub would also be able to handle the trafic.
you might have more options in your sleeve thinking around these lines.
happy holliday greetings, Stefan

Hi Stefan,
1920x1080 uncompressed requires a network connection faster than gigabit. Therefore to transfer it over a network would require some form of compression (and subsequent quality loss)
The extra CPU resources needed to encode the signal and then decode it at the other end would be close to what would be required for streaming anyway.
There are a few external hardware streaming solutions available such as the Teradek Vidiu which can be used without needing a second machine.
Regards,
Martin vMix
