Is it possible to have one shortcut, mapped to a button on my control panel, preview a source and then wait and if I hit it again, transition the source? I guess I would also want a time out in case I don't hit it.

thanks

The source is a lower third overlay that someone else is creating through a google sheet and I want to preview it first.

One doesn't transition with a lower third but overlay it!
you could send that LT input to another monitor for example (constantly)
Might consider scripting due to the, if then else, you want

As said you can but you are wanting a conditional statement hence scripting
