Hello Forum Members,

I just recently purchased a new laptop for streaming and portability. Here's my specs:

---- Predator Triton 500 ----

Model Name: PT515-51-75BH
Part Number: NH.Q50AA.004

Operating System: Windows 10 Home
Processor: Intel® Core™ i7-9750H processor Hexa-core 2.60 GHz
Graphics: NVIDIA® GeForce RTX™ 2060 with 6 GB dedicated memory
Screen: 15.6" Full HD (1920 x 1080) 16:9 IPS
Memory: 16 GB, DDR4 SDRAM
Storage: 512 GB SSD

--- Interfaces/Ports ----

HDMI: Yes

DisplayPort: Yes

Total Number of USB Ports: 4

USB Type-C: Yes

---- USB Type-C Detail ----
USB Type-C port, supporting:
USB 3.1 Gen 2 (up to 10 Gbps)
DisplayPort over USB-C
Thunderbolt 3

Thunderbolt: Yes

Website: Predator Triton 500

I currently have a Elgato HD60S Game Capture and was thinking about getting a second one while I work on $$$ to get a Thunderbolt 3
PCIe External Enclosure and ideally a Magewell Pro Capture HDMI Video Capture Card. Has anyone experienced using two Elgato Game
Captures? If so, how did it work out for you? I'm only using this of course to stream and record from my laptop.
Your thoughts are extremely welcomed. Just trying to find some sense of direction. Thanks in advance!

@ datguyrob

AFAIK the official vMix answer is still NO:
https://www.vmix.com/kno...apture-devices-with-vmix
So using the above listed driver may not work...
Worth a shot if you can return the device, but at your own risk otherwise.

@ doggy

That's good news!
Why they they include OBS and Wirecast in their literature but fail to mention vMix I'll never know...
How many "other" software switchers are there anyways?
Glad you were able to confirm.

Mind you, was able to connect but haven't used it under stress!

for instance one of the units easily looses it connection due to finicky USB connector for example

Just wondering if you've had success in the last 8 months using both simultaneously? Thanks for your help :)

It had been about 8 months since your earlier posts about using 2 elgato hd 60s in the same vmix instance. I may need to do the same thing so was just wondering how successful it was...

Well whenever one wants to do a production is to test everything
after that you test again, and again and check what needs to be adjusted

So basically try it just like as you might need it, it might work or it might not work

Sorry but no time to get the gear out and test myself currently

as always google is a good source

Hi datguyrob,

I wonder if you can tell me how the Predator Triton 500 is going for you. Just researching for my next laptop upgrade, and this is one I am interested in.

When you are streaming and recording, are the CPU's nice and low ?

Any stability issues ? particularly interested in the GPU stability, as all my previous have been GTX. RTX are not yet listed in the vmix tested laptop hardware.

Thanks
Grant.

Hi Grantcoll,

Well, I guess I can say that using this laptop (Predator Triton 500) so far works great. I was reading the previous responses from individuals concerning the Elgato HD60 S.
I just utilized them just the other day with this same laptop. My findings so far is that it does work. For me, I had to be careful what I connect. Since there's only 3 USB 3.0 ports,
one had to be used for my mouse, which leaves 2 ports. But because of the need to have a backup, I had to employ a USB 3.0 hub and connect my mouse, external drive and a connection for an
audio interface which my interface is a Lexicon Alpha 2 Channel USB Interface.

I have to say, by paper, you would think this will work and it does. Now it's attempting to find that "sweet spot" I recently done a recording with my output going into
an MP4 file on my external drive, and what I am experiencing now for some reason is at the playback of the MP4, I'm noticing some spots where there was a "speeding up/slowing down" of the playback
and even appears that it might have skipped here and there. I'm not well versed in that area but what I need is for my playback to be smooth in both video and audio regardless of my inputs.

In addition to my audio, I need to tweak the audio portion so that my playback doesn't sound as if the person speaking is dragging or somewhat slurring their words. But getting back to your question,
I think this laptop can and will work for you, depending on what you're trying to do. GPU appears to be great, CPU is quiet (which I like). My fans are set to Auto so they'll ramp up when necessary.
My only regret would probably be that I wished the screen was larger on this laptop. Other that that, I'm cool with it....so far.

If anyone care to comment on any of the other things I've mentioned in this thread, feel free. I'm seeking your input and direction and it will be greatly appreciated!

Hi datguyrob,
Thanks for the reply. I ended up getting the new model ASUS. Much the same as Predator specs, but through the Covid time, not all laptops were available. With regard to mouse, I would suggest you try changing to bluetooth. I found that you get good reliable signal, and it clears a USB port.

I have used Elgato HD60 s a lot, but when I connect 2 x of them, the video works from both ok, but the audio only works from the 1st one connected. Even though the Audio shows up as #2, and I select it, no audio comes in.

Was you external drive an SSD ? as a HDD won't be fast enough for recording to.

Cheers
Grant
