I've got a lower-third for a show. It animates in... pauses a few seconds, and animates out.
I'm wondering if there's a way to have vmix hold at a particular point, until I press the overlay button again to take it out, and have it resume then.
So my 8 second lower-third could last 20 minutes. animate in, hold for 19.5 minutes, animate out on demand.

by instructing it to pause / continue ?

by means of shortcuts (for manual) or scripting (automated) or combination of both

Guessing your LT is a video

Yes. Video with transparent background.
I typically set keyboard shortcuts to things like L3s. Right now, they are all animate in and stay. So the video "ends" - but the graphic just stays there and fades out when I press the button again. I *could* do that again, animate in and fade out- but now that I've got an out animation, I'd love to utilize it.

The potential problems I forsee would be:
When I press to animate in and pause, and press the same button again to continue the video (thus animating out and ending on transparent video)
What happens if I intentionally or accidentally start a different lower third?
Can my scripting take place at the software level, and not be tied to a button (so if I click the overlay button instead of pressing a shortcut key that fires off an overlay action)

one can have multiple shortcuts under the same key
there are also triggers which can be instructed to do something including a delay before they do so

practically all shortcuts instructions can be done in a script
a script can also check a status like which overlay is on , is a clip running or not etc ( see post 'scripting for dummies' for ideas )

so quite a few road to get to your destination

accidentally start a different lower third? = pay attention ;-)
in a script one can do some error checking

would it not be more convenient to convert your LT vids to actual titles ??
