There are cameras that can be ptz controlled over NDI (Bird-Dog P-Series/Panasonic with NDI option). So it would be nice to have this feature in VMIX.
thanks 1 user thanked PeterH for this useful post.

The NDI PTZ Protocol benefits from being a part of NDI ifself, so you might use NDI routers or cloud solutions like BirdDog Cloud to have the control of the PTZ function directly from the production unit (vMix) to anywhere on the globe. You are able to change the NDI source of an input in vMix without the need to change the Visca IP-settings. Visca over IP works fine when used in a LAN with static IPs, but falls short when you have multiple production stations (vMix) and multiple PTZ-cameras (eg. Newtek PTZ1, BirdDog P200) and you need to shuffle around what station controls which camera. Another benefit is you are always controlling the camera you have as source, and don't risk mix up settings like IP addresses. NDI PTZ Protocol has been part of the NDI SDK since NDI v3.

Unfortunately the NDI PTZ protocol does not support setting and retrieving absolute positions which is required for the
PTZ presets in vMix to work.

Is there a thought of re looking at this NDI Control feature again as now with NDI Bridge it would be super handy not to have to create a VPN's just to control cameras...even if this meant we sacrificed some functionality like presets (or that could be replaced by utilising the local presets in the camera)

If you simply could provide NDI as a drop down selection then users can decide what way to go. Having it is better than not having it.
