Hi there,

Let's say
Input 1 is full screen ( presenter )
and
Input 2 is PiP ( a powerpoint presentation )

Is there a way to scale a picture in picture style overlay to full screen, through an animation?
( and reverse )

Right now, I have to clear the current overlay and cut to Input 2 if I want Input 2 full screen,
which is not bad but I'd like to make it a bit better.

Usually the answer to my questions is RTFM, which I sincerely hope so it is this time too, just give me a hint please.
Thank you for your help !

so why don't you ;-)

If only there was also way to search say a forum or even if something like google would exist

There have been several posts here about what you want to do

Based on that vMix itself even made a video about it

Hint:
- squeeze back
- merge
- Animated PiP

also to lazy to search direct links to it :-P

@ Tippy Toe

As alluded to above, and for the benefit of all, this feature is already built into vMix.
Essentially, if the Overlay channel you are using is set to Picture-in-Picture, when LIVE, if you right click the Overlay button it will go Fullscreen, click it again and it goes back to PiP position.
(when not Live, right clicking sends the Overlay to Preview)

I hope that helps.

Zooms PIP Overlay to fill Fullscreen and vice versa

Thanks everyone for the hints.
I wish I could assimilate everything in one go because I did watch those videos before.

Some of the functions and shortcuts are a little bit confusing to me.
Terminology is a also new to me, scale - zoom, tomatoes.
I watched the Overlay videos again, first time watched it for different reasons and missed the scale feature.
The more experienced ppl here may master the RMB LMB Preview Program Overlays game, but I am lost.

Related to what @IceStream points out:

RMB on Input Green (4) - Overlay 2 -> turns off Input (3) Blue from Program and Previews it.
I expect it to leave my Blue Overlay in place and just preview it.

If an overlay is in preview ( yellow highlight ) and you LMB it scales it up ( in preview ).
If the Overlay is inactive LMB sends it to Program. :-(

LMB has two functions depending if you are in Preview or Program.
Am I the only one that finds this over engineered and confusing ?

New Overlay question:

Is there a way to make the scaled up overlay "always on top" ?
It seems that the higher number goes on top the lower number overlays.

Thank you!

Different approach: I'm not a fan of working extensively with the 4 overlay channels in the heat of a live production. If the effect is sufficient for your needs, maybe take a look at Merge in combination with Multiview Overlays.

The 4 overlays are sequential. 1 is the lowest, 2 overlays 1, 3 overlays 2, 4 overlays 3

Thanks again.

Tried multiview merge, even managed to animate move PiP from side to side !
Used the Overlay Zoom Function as well.
Pretty cool !

I've been probably over complicating things as I usually have just one slideshow and one camera on a presenter.
There's a need to move the OL with the slideshow from side to side occasionally, depending on where the presenter is.
vMix has some quirks, but explainable in the end.

Good luck there everyone.
