Has anyone played around with AMD Ryzen and just curious how it stacks up performance wise to an I7 with vmix.

But to summarize my own experience: The ryzen Zen architecture (gen1) has a bit higher render times due to the way it handles instructions. Zen+ (gen2) has this issue resolved. Zen+ also needs high memory clockspeeds to match its Intel price-range brothers in performance, and is slightly (50-100 bucks) cheaper tier for tier. TR is has its own pros and cons but you should search for threads about that. Overall, my experience is that Intel is easier to get up and running as per expected performance, but if you run programs beside Vmix without maxing out vmix, Zen+ handles that slightly better. If you only run Vmix (as recommended) then Intel is definitely the way to go. Intel is currently the recommended platform for Vmix, and until Zen2 (3000 series) is out and tested, that wont be changing. Personally looking forward to that series, as it has a bunch of improvements that are not purely game related that might make it rival the high end CPUs of intel on both performance and price.

yeah Ryzen isn't the one you want, vmix was built on Intel so that is what you would want to run a production on
