Greetings friends.

I agree with the strong desire for a blur/de-focus feature, but understand the CPU usage issue to do this live.

I think that I could be satisfied with a version of this that saves out an image (from an input, preview or program) in a selected (and previewed) level of blur and then (optionally) automatically creates a new input from that. This would save a lot of time vs. creating the blur in Photoshop and bringing it back it - and would allow us to create a blurred background on-the-fly.

Taking this idea to the next level would be allowing this to work with moving video and recording the output as an MOV or AVI - and automatically create an input (which could be looped) from that.

How about it folks? Anyone want to give this suggestion a +1?

Thanks in advance!

The "save an image" function is there now. It is the camera button!

To do what you are suggesting I simply have a paint program open (paint.net is light on resources)Drag the image file into it. Blur the image. Resave, Drag and drop the image back into vMix which automatically creates an input. OK. It's a workaround but it works, and it takes me 30 sec. With photoshop you can do the same but also bring the image in as an NDI source which means adjustments will be seen live.

For videos, use Premier, apply the blur there and again bring it in as an NDI source.

Thanks for your reply, Ask.

Yup, your way can work, but I was looking to simplify the process.

Also, I think that you may have missed an important part of the first part of my feature request; where I request the blur functionality and automatic new input creation:

“ ...saves out an image (from an input, preview or program) in a selected (and previewed) level of blur and then (optionally) automatically creates a new input from that.”

Still hoping for some +1s, friends!

Perhaps a trigger and a bit of script?

- Save a still from the current source.
- Call an external program to transform it with a preset blur.
- Assign the result as a new input.
