We have been using png images and PowerPoint slides to get changing data into a production.
At one time the png files changed dynamically, but now they don't so confused as to why this has happened.
But wondered if any of the vmix forum members could suggest how a remote third-party changing data manually could get this data into a vMix production?
The data relates to a varying number of competition entrants predicting the results of a number of races that are being televised.
Given the variable nature of the number of entries I cannot see that this would work using Data Sources and so requesting what members think could be an alternative source of data entry inter Vmix?
I'm not sure if using PowerPoint slides or png images is the most efficient or correct way of doing this.
Hope someone out there in vmixland can help us as we go live with our first production this evening!!
Thanks

Data Sources but fail to see why you mention it could not work. Google sheets can be update remotely or another pc on the same network , need more info.
Data Source update changes automatically according the updated source

IMO not if you are dealing with a lot of data and it changes, one would be better of with a template (title) where the content can be changed based on manual input , Presets in the title editor or Data Source linkage

A little more specifics in what you want to achieve would certainly help

Thanks Doggy for the quick follow up.
It's not too panicky as we do have a workable solution but it just feels a bit clunky. The main vmix production is at another location, and my vMix is carrying one of the camera feeds via vMix Call and two other inputs via SRT. It's these two SRT inputs that I am changing dynamically via spreadsheet data in a laptop connected on the same network and bringing that data from Google Sheets into Google slides for onward transfer into vMix. But once in vMix we are needing to bring a new Powerpoint into vMix to get the changes, which takes time and is the clunky bit.
I'm sure with all the platforms available to us we should have a neater solution.
What do you think?
I just hope I have explained everything OK.

No, still clear as mud , sorry

was really under the impression that your power-point slides where intended to just show different data that you draw from a data source on the same background hence my title referencing

All went well this evening using the 'clunky' method, but us prone to human errors and the manual data changes takes far too long.
I think there maybe a solution using data sources on the local vMix network and then sending the results to the remote production vMix via the SRT links.
If all goes well I'll post the results here.

Dad,

I know this has been a while, but I’m going to answer it anyway.

So I think I see what you are trying to accomplish, and doggy is right. You should be using a title. Use the GT (of regular) Title Designer that comes with vMix to create a title where your data can reside. Then use a Data Source to control when that data changes.

For example, I run a livestream for a local high school. We have a several titles for different reasons that use the name and scores of the home and away teams. The scoreboard uses it, the animated matchup title uses it, etc. I have set up a data source that points to an XML file, and all I need to do it open that XML file (which, even though I have it locally could be ANYWHERE on the network), make changes to it and save it. The titles in vMix are updated IMMEDIATELY because the fields on the title are connected to the XML file as a data source.

If you are still struggling with this, might I suggest going to the vMix channel on YouTube and searching for data sources. All is explained there. In fact, that is one of the best repositories for how to videos for vMix I have ever seen. Tim is very good at explaining everything and showing you how to do it in the software itself, although I can’t say I’m a big fan of his beard. 🤣🤣🤣.
