You may be able to bull it off by rendering these elements out without any data then using the last frame where they become static and create a overlay xmal title with all data elements. Here's the tricky part, Timing the triggering of overlay. Could probably do this with a simple API command or use multiple keyboard short cuts in a macro. This is just off the top of my head. Would need a similar animation for proof of concept.

I'd second the Flash idea, using Flash Builder as the IDE. You can build virtually any animated graphic you want, tie into external data sources, and fairly easy control vMix via the API. Basically, anything you see on ESPN you could make happen yourself, given enough time and effort anyway.

A very cool vMix feature is the ability to open a Flash file as an overlayed input. This has a lot of advantages over alternatives like desktop capture. By using transparency in Flash you can overlay only your scroring graphics on top of video, even using partial transparency to let some of the video bleed through where appropriate.

For a serious project this may be the best way to go, but it's not for faint of heart. I did run into some issues with some of the newer Spark Flash controls, and had to use a property called 'cacheAsBitmap' (true) in several controls to correct some display issues, but it did seem solid and stable once I got it running.
