Having problems with the playback of even lightweight mp4 1920x1080 25p video and I need some advice.

I have Vmix running on a windows 8.1 desktop system, i7-3770S with 16 GB of ram, Intel hd graphics 4000, dual monitor setup 1080x 1920 both running 50p. My source material is mp4 video 1920x1080 25p. and on this desktop playback is fine in Vmix.

So my basic thought was I should be able to playback this on a regular laptop. I bought Vmix just for one occasion were about 30 clips should be played back with some fading. No life input, streams or overlays needed. In the project the HDMI output of the laptop will go to a Roland VR-50HD Video mixer that is connected through SDI to a large Panasonic projector.

The problem is stuttering video playback

First i tried an Asus Model k53SV Laptop, i7-2630QM with Nvidia GT 540M . I tried both with windows home and windows pro. With the Nvidia card playback is very sloppy, dropping frames and render times up to 75ms. Adjusting Nvidia settings (according to Vmix FAQ) did not help.

With the Intel HD graphics 3000 video also stutters but rendering times are low between 1 and 4 ms also no frames are dropped. But still playback is stuttering.

The problem with this laptop is also that the internal screen will only do 40 or 60p so I can not match the refresh rate of both screens.

Secondly I tried a hp pavilion Core i5-4210U intel HD graphics 4400. It stutters a little less, but it also won't allow matching the laptop screen with the external screen at 50 p.

The best playback I can get at the moment is rendering the 25p material to 59.94 and set vmix likewise and all the screens to 60frames.

Of course there is the recommended vmix reference laptop, but seems a bit overkill for what i want to achieve.

Anyone have a good experience with using one of the newer budget systems with i5-6265U and intel uhd graphics 620 like :

Acer swift 3 SF314- 56-57G7, Intel Core i5-8265U, Intel UHD Graphics 62, 8gb, 512GB ssd.

Any other proven budget laptop system for 25p hd?

Sorry for the long post, but i'm not always sure what matters and what not, thanks Fred.

maybe you can post a link to one of your videos?
so we could try it on similar "sad" systems?

To answer some of my question.

First of all thanks to Peter1000 for his help on this.

I found reasonable playback on a some what older i5 2.7GHz with 8 GB memory and a msi Geforce GTX 1050 ti
strange enough playback is better at 50P VMIX setting when using 25P renders

No luck on the laptop front however. A lenovo L 340 Gaming: i7 8GB and a gtx1050 stutters very much if set on using the GTX 1050, no matter what settings in vmix or nvidia. Using the intel graphics the stutters are smaller, but not acceptable. Using vlc 25p playback is no problem.

So I found a solution and will find me an other desktop with i7 and a GTX 1050i. Because I need a backup system for the project.
