Would be nice to have the solo feature not tied to the fader.

Use case: I send IFB mixes to both talent using Bus A and B. Producer needs to hear the talent offline (talking back to him when they're lining up the next segment, etc) Solo works for that, BUT the fader needs to be up for that to work, as a workaround, we only use the on/off button to mute the talent microphone, instead of the fader on my controller (Akai APC Mini)

When the operator uses the fader, it takes the sound off the solo as well, which is not ideal in this use case, would be nice to have either solo not tied to fader, or another option to get this talkback offline to work.

Sounds like you're asking for PFL (Pre-Fade Listen) as well as Solo. Hardware mixers for broadcast would usually have switches for both functions on the channel strip.

that would be correct. Prefader listen for this use case would be perfect.
