Hi

We are evaluating vMix for streaming to youtube. Streaming works fine - we really like the product so far!

But we came across a problem now (or maybe are doing something wrong), because we have a weird effect.
All the videos we streamed to youtube, when the youtube-recording is played on a mobile device, only make really weird noises. On Desktops the audio is fine.

Best you see for yourself:

--> if you play that video on a mobile device (iOs and Android tested) --> weird noises.
--> if you play that video on a desktop browser (Chrome / Edge tested) --> audio as it was supposed to be.

it happens to every video we stream to youtube via vmix.

Setup is:
- one camera (no audio)
- one ndi-stream (no audio)
- line in directly from FOH (audio)

Closest explanation i found so far:
https://productforums.google.com/forum/#!topic/youtube/XjLqAc-KJE0
something with left and right channel out of phase and when they are merged to mono on a mobile device the kill each other...

But even if that's true - why? It did not happen on livestream.com and as far as i remember also not with OBS...

Any ideas for a solution?

Edit: it has to do with stereo-audio. with headphones it works on mobile, through the speakers of mobile devices that do not support stereo it does not (iphone 8 has stereo speakers and works).

Regards
Jonathan

Hi.
I've got the same problem. Any cues on how to fix it?
Thanx in advance.

How is the FOH audio supplied to you, and what sort of audio input device are you using to get it into vMix?

If by any chance it's balanced audio and sent via a pair of XLR cables, then you can insert an XLR Male-Female phase-invert adaptor into one of the feeds.

If not, then the next question would be whether there's much "meaningful" stereo information in the mix, and whether you could just use either the left or right as a mono signal and ignore the other? To do that, change the vMix audio Channel option from "All" to "Separate Mono" and then just have one of them faded up in the main Audio Mixer panel

Finally, you could find a VST3 plugin that provides a phase invert function that works on a single left or right channel of a stereo signal, and then use it on the vMix audio channel which has the problem input signal. For example, there's one called "Out!" on the Terry West website which appears to do what you want.

Would be interesting what kind of output and jack type you're using on the FOH.
My guess is that you use a balanced mono (1 channel) output (Aux?) with a balanced jack going to an unbalanced stereo (2 channels) input on the PC.
Result is that the second channel is out of phase to the first channel.
Simplest solution: Just use an unbalanced jack on the FOH. But there are some othre solutions like using a balanced input on the PC (Interface) and so on...
Best solution: Get an audio engineer who knows what he is doing... ;-)

balanced vs. unbalanced would apply to ALL audio from that input and effect both PC and mobile streaming. The fact that only mobile streaming is of bad audio makes me think of more a codec issue. So make sure you stream to YT with a supported audio codec.
