I can assign triggers etc on an external controller, but would welcome an option to be able to add or assign custom buttons on the interface that I can assign a function to.
high on my list is a stop-start toggle that is now assigned to a button on my external midi device, which i do not always want to use or add. but to stop start a recording is a welcome feature so i can start a new recording file at a specific point without any interruption of the recording ( not a frame ! ) like setting an interval but then at will.
there must be many more reasons to assign a function to an assignable button...
or is there a work around?
greetings stefan

do you mean something like a "homemade" external button or switch (not keyboard, midi device or alike ?)

I use palette gear buttons, knobs and faders to control vMix over midi. Buttons: To switch cams, one to get to the next datasource for my titles Knobs: To adjust for volumes, I use a knob for my headphone volume. The knobs can be used as buttons as well. They have a press down event also. Faders: One I use for the master volume. The other as T-Bar.
If you need more functions add more items. If the setup is simpler use less. It's so cool and easy.

Hi h2video.nl Although you cannot create buttons directly on the vMix UI, you can disable Shortcuts from appearing in the vMix Web Controller (Show in Web Controller tic box), so you could essentially create a "simplified" Web Controller window with just the Shortcut Buttons you want to appear, if that is what you are asking. https://www.vmix.com/help22/AddShortcut.htmlvMixGreg

would be so nice to just have a button just like the ones we have, but I can assign a function to it...
added to the shortcuts as an option: assign to button, 1 2 or 3... rename 1 to < ... > etc....

Hi doggy,
i love to assign a stop start toggle per example. now assigned to midi interface. but difficult to explain to operators.
a button on the UI next to rec would be awsome. click it and vmix starts a next seamless recording file....
but i am sure there are more things you could assign for one push button action... stefan

+1 stefan, My idea (a few years ago) was to have Inputs act as "assignable buttons" but I called them "soft shortcuts". Check and see if something like that would be useful in your case: https://forums.vmix.com/...soft--virtual--and-namedThe next step, closer to your request I think, would be if vMix had a floating bar with buttons as you ask for. In my case I would use that to replace SmartTitler, which is limited to populating and turning Titles on/off. And of course for many more things...
