I am testing vMix for a production project around esports, and need to bring in 8 players simultaneously which the $1200 license claims it can do.

I am testing this on vMix trial, is this trial mode product limited for doing more than 1 concurrent user on a vMixCall?

Or am I hitting weird firewall issues? There is nothing restricting OUTBOUND connections, but from what I can see from the KB, the STUN server should mediate the inbound connections past our pretty boring NAT based firewall we use for production.

What should I be looking at to troubleshoot this further?

But behaviour is first user connects without issues, video and audio.

Second user attempts connect, and first call freezes, second and suibsequent callers never completely connects or ever sends audio and video.
Chat works fine at all times between multi-users.

Instead of seeing callers horizontally tiling out in call manager as they connect, they all overwrite the first caller box in call manager UI

Trial version has no limitations... if you think your firewall is the problem, try without firewall ;-)

As I am getting one call through without issues, and local host firewall is disabled, the only "firewall" is a simple NAT one on the router.

This feels like the STUN server is overloading/overwriting the sessions it is mediating.

I switched to a different connection through a Cisco router, and the calls overwriting each other rather than becoming concurrent persisted.

but vmixcall stun server is borked right now, so maybe my issue was a symptom of its death throes.

Is there a way to make vmixcall work via direct IP connections and managing your own firewall traversal ?

So still stuck on only one call working, and every subsequent call overrides the first, badly (no video connection, just changes name in call box in Call Manager)

This really feels like the STUN server is interacting badly with my router, but I have swapped between Cisco and EdgeRouter, and same symptoms persist.

Is there anyway to troubleshoot this vmixcall stuff??

Just to double check, are you definitely adding separate inputs for each caller into vMix and using different passwords for each?
thanks 1 user thanked admin for this useful post.

Nope, not at all.

But I did work that out about an hour ago, setup three different hosted calls, and saw the expected behavior of 3 boxes in Call manager.

I did not read "6. To add additional guests, repeat these steps as many times as needed." in the way it was intended.

Now to test an 8 way call in the morning and really test this thing!

If you care to see this in action, Tom Sinclair recently did a show to test 8 vMix Calls into vMix system. I was one of the participants.

?t=1558

In the end, he was both bandwidth and CPU constrained.

Thanks for this, but I worked out where I was being stupid. (assumed new callers would auto-create new input channels from one hosted call, as opposed to manually create input per caller)

Ran our 8-way test for an esports event on Sunday and it worked pretty damn well.

Just got to tweak some audio leveling things, and it will be perfect for purpose.
