Hi there,


Tips for accessing & delivering NDI streams on a vmix machine with 2 network connections.

Sometimes you may need to set up 2 network connections on your vmix machine, usually when interfacing with larger productions.
I have had issues where I I can see NDI cameras from both but NDI receiving devices can't see my mixed output (via NDI) across both networks.

Has anyone got tips for using NDI across 2 networks?

Confirming, the config is Vmix machine with 2 network cards with 2 ip addresses in different ranges on seperate physical networks.

I know OSX can deal with 2 network devices well, but my windows experience is limited (I only use windows for vmix)

you can define the route in cmd line. Windows supports NIC teaming to aggregate multiple NICs.

Please explain in more detail what you want to achieve.
NDI ingest on one NIC and output on the other?

Thanks for your reply.

I would like to ingest and output on both networks.

For example, I might want to output video to venue screens and maybe ingest a camera plugged into the venue's network.
I also run my own dedicated network for vmix which would have NDI cameras and a NDI monitor for the show producer.

Your computer would need two NICs. Traffic on NIC 1 will come in and go out on the same NIC. Same applies to NIC 2. The metric of the NIC tells the computer which one to use. The lower the metric the more "important" the NIC. If you open vMix it should be able to read NDI from both but would send only to the lowest metric. If you need the other NIC change the metric or add a route.
An alternative could be the NDI Access Manager. I don't use it so others might be better at explaining if that could be achieved with the manager as well.
