This most usually happens when hardware acceleration is being used. Try capturing the entire screen instead of the window.

Perhaps try Newtek's free Scan Convertor to capture to NDI, then add the NDI source.

@ Freak

This is commonly a limitation of some Windows applications but also with many Laptops with Optimus graphics:

We are in the process of moving our video production from OBS to vMix. Besides all of the great features, we are learning from Tim'sd videos and training from CRE8 Live are vMix call and vMix Desktop Capture. The former works great however having difficulty with the Desktop capture.

It's installed on a Macbook with the latest released OS version. Vmix on Windows 10 can see all the NDI inputs from the Mac but as black screens. I am also running Newtek's NDI software on the MAC. Is this causing a conflict?

I can see and use other NDI inputs on vMix such as my cell phone camera. I tried using OBS on the Mac and sending the output via NDI also get a black screen. Tried it on the PC running vMix and works great.

I have set the firewall settings exactly as instructed on the Mac.

make sure the MAC is wired. NDI over Wifi will be hard to get through. That's why NDI|HX exists and where it's good for. WIFI. Full NDI needs about a 100 Mbit/s of data. A wired connection suits best.

It is wired. My Pixel cell phone camera is picked up as an NDI source no problem (it is wireless). I am thinking it's something in the config of the Mac. I will try another Mac Book to see if I can get further. PC wired or wireless works fine too.

Thank you for your reply, however, as I mentioned in my initial post I think the firewall settings are as specified. I can see all of the things running on the Mac from within vMix but they all have black screens, no video is being received. I am running Mojave version 10.14.5.

No idea why it's not coming through. I will be trying on a different Mac next week when I have access to one to see if the results are the same.
